About the brand
Since its foundation more than 130 years ago, the Union Glashütte brand has dedicated itself to the production of fine watches, and its collections are a testament to Glashütte's rich history of watchmaking. Right from the start, businessman and founder of the company, Johannes Dürrstein, kept to the principle of making his high-quality, precision Glashütte watches affordable for a wider range of customers. This obejctive still guides Union today. Union Glashütte watches bear the quality label „Made in Glashütte“ with pride and a sense of responsibility – for a tradition that has made history.
Time takes time – at least, when it is born into the Glashütte tradition. Timepieces are meticulously handcrafted in Union's ateliers, equipped exclusively with mechanical movements, whose finely refined inner workings can be admired through a glass case back. As in Dürrstein's day, the brand, which is part of the Swatch Group, benefits from its close ties with Switzerland: it purchases individual parts from its sister company, the renowned movement manufacturer ETA, which are then finished and assembled into complete movements at Union's production facility in Glashütte - although Union also manufactures individual components from scratch itself. Each individual piece is assembled, individually regulated, finished and checked in several elaborate stages. Every watch is made individually by hand in Glashütte from over 200 intricate components. Whether adding fine decoration, making minute adjustments to the rate accuracy or carefully mounting the hands, at Union Glashütte, handcrafted workmanship plays a central role.
